Grand Master Young Youl Oh

Grand Master Oh was born in Korea where taekwondo originated as an art of self-defense focused on training both the mind and the body. After serving in Vietnam where he taught taekwondo to Australian, Vietnamese and US troops, he migrated to Australia in the early 1970's and raised his family in Melbourne.

He is Kukkiwon 9th Dan Black Belt and was the founding member of the Australian Taekwondo Association. He was also the founding member of The Oceania Taekwondo Union (OTU) and is currently the OTU Technical Director.

Grand Master Oh was the Australian National Coach for over 20 years, coaching the Australian taekwondo team for the Seoul and Barcelona Olympics. He was the Technical Operations Manager of the Sydney Olympics and received the Australian Sports Award in 2000.

As Deputy Secretary General of the World Taekwondo Federation, the World taekwondo governing body, Grand Master Oh was responsible for referee training, running training seminars, and managing the nominations of the referees for all championships organized by the WTF and 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
